Abstract

The main purpose of this research was to study the relationship between personal growth initiative and educational quality of elementary school physical education teachers with the mediating role of job engagement. This research was applied and correlational. All elementary school sports teachers of Golestan province were the statistical population of this study, of which 176 were randomly (stratified) selected as a sample. The research instrument included standard questionnaires of personal growth initiative (Luyckx & Robitschek, 2014), job engagement (Skas, 2006) and educational quality (Wang et al, 2022). The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. SPSS 25 and Smart PLS 3 software were used for data analysis. The findings of the research showed a positive and significant relationship between personal growth initiative and job engagement of physical education teachers. Also, the results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between personal growth initiative and educational quality of physical education teachers. Finally, the results of the research showed that the relationship between personal growth initiative and educational quality of physical education teachers with the mediating role of job engagement is positive and meaningful. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the development of personal growth initiative of physical education teachers can lead to positive consequences such as job engagement and increasing their educational quality; therefore, the creation of appropriate opportunities for the professional development of physical education teachers by school administrators is suggested.
