Abstract

The aim of the present study is to investigate the sociological role of the family in socializing young people through wrestling (young wrestlers and teenagers of Sari city between 12 and 19 years old) in 2020. This research is a cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study, before setting up the data collection tool (interview-questionnaire), the researcher used participatory observation for four years. The theoretical framework of this research is symbolic interaction, so according to the theoretical framework of the research, a mixed method (qualitative and quantitative) was used. The statistical population of the research consists of 300 young and adolescent wrestlers. Based on Cochran's formula, 141 people were selected as a specific sample by random sampling (lottery method) from the clubs, and were selected to collect information, and the research tool is a researcher-made questionnaire.
Researches show that there is a significant relationship between family sportsmanship, family support for wrestling, family attitude towards wrestling, family role models, and also the variable of peers with socialization through wrestling. The results of the regression model findings show that the variables of family sportsmanship, family support for wrestling, family attitude toward wrestling, and family role models had the greatest effect on socialization through wrestling. The four independent variables have been able to explain 0.58% of the changes related to the dependent variable of this research.
