Abstract

The present study aims to present the sociological model of social capital of football players with the approach of professional ethics. This research is a fundamental research in terms of its purpose and a survey research in terms of data collection method. In order to achieve the goal, an exploratory mixed research design was used. The community of participants in the qualitative section included physical education professors and prominent football veterans of the country. With theoretical sampling method, theoretical saturation was finally achieved after 35 interviews. The statistical population of the quantitative part also includes veterans and referees, coaches, football experts and players, which was estimated by the effect size method and the sample size of 155 people. Sampling of the quantitative part was done by stratified-random method. Data collection was done using semi-structured interviews and researcher-made questionnaires. Qualitative analysis of expert interviews was done with grounded theory method and Maxqda software. In the quantitative part, partial least squares method and Smart PLS software were used. The results of the research showed that the social capital of football players has an effect on professional ethics and professional ethics is effective on the growth and success of football in the country. In general, it can be said that creating a culture in the club, empowering the players and monitoring the official competitions and the Premier League are the causal factors that affect the social capital of football players.
