Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting on increasing students’ physical activity participation. According to study of the literature, 5 factors were considered, management, motivation, economic, socio-cultural and infrastructure and sport facilities, to determine the factors affecting the increase in students’ sports participation. In order to gather data a researcher made questionnaire with 32 items were prepared according to the literature. The amount of reliability with Cronbach’s alpha test at pilot study was obtained 0.83. The population of this study was more than 122000 students of Tehran universities. According to Morgan table 384 samples were determined to this study. Also a stratified random sampling was conducted. In order to analysis descriptive statistic such as means and frequency, SPSS software was used. Inferential statistics also calculated by SPSS software including exploratory analysis and Lisrel software for modeling. Finally interpretive structure modeling presented with ISM technique in order to identify the relationship between factors. The results show that all factors influence on increasing students’ physical activity participation. Regarding to factor loads, management factor was identified as the most important factor on student sport participation and other factors ranked as socio-cultural, economic, infrastructure and sport facilities, and motivation respectively. Hence, it is better sports authorities in universities try to make closer relation with students, and respected to the importance of management factor make proper decisions in term of university and implement these decisions correctly.
